Acceptable Use Policy

Effective date: 2026-10-05
Last updated: 2026-10-05

This policy sets out what you may and may not do with PicFinish. It forms part of our Terms of Service. "We" means Dmitry Bykovskikh PR Beograd, Resavska 33, stan 1, 11000 Beograd (Vračar), Serbia.

Breaking these rules can mean a refused request, a suspended account or a closed one. Where an account is closed for a serious breach, unused credits are forfeited, to the extent permitted by applicable law and subject to our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

1. What PicFinish is for

PicFinish is software for preparing commercial imagery of products: marketplace listings, online shops, menus and catalogues. You upload photographs of things you sell and use automated tools to edit them into images suitable for publication.

PicFinish is not a general-purpose image generator, not a portrait tool and not a face-swapping service.

2. What you may do

Upload photographs of products you have the right to use. Your own photographs, photographs you have licensed, and images supplied by a brand you are authorised to sell.

Upload photographs in which a person appears alongside the product. This is normal in product photography: clothing worn by a model, a watch on a wrist, a bag held in the hand, food served by a person. You may use our tools on such images — for example to replace the background or improve the lighting — provided that:

  • the photograph is yours to use, and
  • every adult shown has consented to the photograph being used commercially in this way, whether directly or through a model release covering that use; for a person under 18, you must have that consent, given explicitly, from everyone who holds parental responsibility for them under the law that applies (in some countries both parents), and the photograph must never show them in an inappropriate context, as section 3 describes.

Add a generated person to an image. Some tools and settings add a person to an image: the tool that adds a model, including listing-pack images that use it, lifestyle scenes set with people, Prompt Studio presets that show a product worn, held in the hand or next to a hand, and prompts or custom instructions that ask for one. Three choices ask for the product and its setting alone: a lifestyle scene with no audience chosen, a lifestyle scene with "No people", and the Prompt Studio preset "Lifestyle in context". The model may still add a person to any scene, including one made from a prompt of your own that does not mention people, because the model decides what a scene contains. A person added this way is meant to be a generic synthetic person, not a depiction of any specific real person, and asking for a specific real person is not allowed, as section 3 sets out. If your photograph already shows a person, a tool may keep and redraw that person, including from a new angle or in new light, rather than invent a new one. The rules above for photographs of people apply to that person, and this is allowed only as part of editing a product photograph, with any change to the person leaving them recognisably themselves, as section 3 describes.

Publish the results commercially. Subject to your own compliance with the law and with the rules of the platform you publish on, including any requirement to disclose that an image was made or edited with AI, as section 10 of our Terms of Service explains.

3. What you may not do

People

  • Attempt to generate, recreate or approximate a specific, identifiable real person, whether living or dead. This includes public figures, celebrities, athletes, politicians, influencers, and private individuals. A person described only by age, gender, looks, ethnicity, role, era or style, such as "a woman in her 30s" or "a model with a 1950s Hollywood look", is not a specific real person.
  • Attempt to swap or replace the face of a person in an uploaded image, to make them look like another specific person, or to make an adult look under 18. Edits that leave the person recognisably themselves, such as a change of expression, make-up, hair or lighting, or retouching, are not such an attempt, and neither is a tool that redraws a person who already appears in your photograph as part of an ordinary product edit, such as a new angle or new lighting.
  • Create content presented as showing a real person doing or saying something they did not do — a deepfake, however framed. An edit this section allows, of a person in your own photograph, is not such content, but when you publish it you may have to disclose that it was edited with AI, as section 10 of our Terms of Service explains.
  • Use a person's likeness, name or identity to suggest endorsement, association or approval that does not exist.
  • Upload a photograph of a person without the necessary rights, including images taken from social media, search results, or stock sources where you do not hold the required licence and model consent or release.
  • Attempt any form of biometric identification, comparison or age estimation.

Sexual content and minors

  • Pornographic, sexually explicit, erotic or lewd imagery, including nudity. Underwear, lingerie and swimwear shown the way a shop catalogue shows them are allowed.
  • Any imagery involving or appearing to involve a minor in a sexual, suggestive or exploitative context. There is no artistic or editorial exemption. Such conduct may result in immediate account closure and, where required by law, reporting to the competent authorities.
  • Uploading a photograph that shows a person under 18 without the explicit consent of everyone who holds parental responsibility for them under the law that applies (in some countries both parents). Uploading a photograph that shows a person under 18, or asking the Service to show a person under 18, in an inappropriate context: anything sexual, suggestive, exploitative, violent or otherwise harmful. A child or teenager in an ordinary scene, such as wearing the product, riding a skateboard or sitting at a table with a parent, is not an inappropriate context.

Harmful and illegal content

  • Content that promotes, glorifies or incites violence or physical harm, or shows gratuitous gore. A product shown as a product, such as a kitchen knife, a tool or a toy, is not such content; weapons are covered under Regulated and restricted subjects below.
  • Content that is hateful, harassing, or that demeans people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
  • Content that promotes or glorifies self-harm, suicide or eating disorders.
  • Content that is unlawful where you are, where we are, or where you publish it.

Deception and misrepresentation

  • Presenting a product as something it is not: different contents, different condition, different quantity, different material, different brand.
  • Counterfeit goods, replicas presented as genuine, or imagery designed to pass off one brand's product as another's.
  • Fabricated certifications, awards, safety marks, test results or approvals.
  • Fake reviews, fake user photographs, or imagery designed to appear as customer-submitted content when it is not.
  • Imagery intended to mislead a marketplace's automated checks.

Rights of others

  • Uploading photographs, illustrations, artwork, characters or designs you do not have the right to use.
  • Using trademarks, logos or brand assets you are not authorised to use.
  • Attempting to reproduce a recognisable copyrighted character, artwork or design.
  • Anything that infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights.

Regulated and restricted subjects

We do not support imagery of: weapons, ammunition or their components; illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia; prescription medicines; tobacco and vaping products sold in breach of local rules; gambling products; or any goods whose sale requires a licence you do not hold.

Technical abuse

  • Circumventing credit limits, plan restrictions, rate limits, moderation or any other safeguard.
  • Creating multiple accounts to obtain additional free allowance or repeated refunds.
  • Accessing the Service by automated means other than an interface we document and permit.
  • Reselling, sublicensing or white-labelling the Service, or presenting its output as the product of your own AI service.
  • Attempting to extract, reproduce or reverse-engineer our prompts, model configuration or internal instructions.
  • Probing, scanning or interfering with the security or availability of the Service or any provider we depend on.

4. How we check

Text you write — including prompts in Prompt Studio and any custom instructions — is screened automatically before it reaches an image model. A request is refused when it clearly asks for sexual content, a specific real person, a face swap or another change to a face that section 3 forbids, content that promotes violence or self-harm, content that attacks or demeans people for a characteristic section 3 lists, or anything harmful involving a person under 18, each as section 3 describes it; where a request might show a person under 18 in a sexual or suggestive way, it is refused even when that is not clear. This check does not analyse your photographs, and text you place on an image as an overlay is drawn by our software, not by an AI model, and is not screened. The other rules in section 3, such as those on deception, other people's rights, regulated products and uploading photographs without the necessary consent, are not part of this check, and it does not look for gratuitous gore or eating disorders as such; these rules still apply, to your photographs and overlay text as well, and we act on them when we learn of a breach. The initial screening is automated.

You will see why a request was refused. If you believe a refusal was wrong, write to support@picfinish.com and we will look at it — automated screening can be wrong, and occasionally refuses a legitimate request. If the check cannot run, the request is not started and nothing is charged.

The AI models we rely on also apply their own safety filters, independently of ours. A request may therefore be refused even where our screening allowed it. In either case the credit is not consumed.

We may review the images the Service produces and account activity where we have reason to, including on a report, on a pattern of refused requests, or on a payment dispute.

5. Reporting a problem

Write to support@picfinish.com if you believe that:

  • an image produced through PicFinish infringes your rights;
  • an image depicts you or someone you represent;
  • someone is using PicFinish in breach of this policy.

Tell us what the content is, where you saw it, and what your connection to it is. We aim to respond within 2 business days. Where a report is well-founded we take appropriate action, which may include removing content or restricting an account.

6. Consequences

Depending on what happened, we may refuse the request, remove content, restrict a feature, suspend the account while we look into it, or close the account.

Where it is reasonable, we tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to respond. For serious breaches — in particular anything involving minors in an inappropriate context, sexual content, or deliberate attempts to generate real people — we may suspend or close the account immediately.

7. Changes

We may update this policy, in particular as the rules of the platforms and providers we work with change. The date above shows when it was last updated. Material changes are announced in the Service or by email before they take effect.
